Patience is a virtue. Good things come to all that wait. Due to debut in the spring of 2016, the Nissan Rogue hybrid will improve fuel efficiency, while still delivering a smooth and comfortable ride. The starting price of this Rogue will be $28,325 for the SV version. Nissan believes the Rogue hybrid will be one of the top fuel efficient CUV hybrids on the market today. There will be no S version of the Rogue hybrid, unlike the gasoline powered version. SV and SL will be instead offered. If you choose to step up to the SL version, those will run you $32,935 to start. Nissan offers a Premium Package which will include; heated mirrors, navigation, an All Around View monitor, a power liftgate, a panoramic moonroof, blind spot warning, forward collision warning and a forward emergency braking.
Both models will come with the option for front wheel drive or all-wheel drive. If you choose the AWD, the Rogue SL will bump up to $34,285.
The single motor CVT hybrid system and lithium-ion battery pack will compose the Rogue hybrid. This is the same configuration used on the much larger Pathfinder SUV and its luxury counterpart, the INFINITI QX60 hybrid versions. The only difference is small. The Rogue hybrid will substitute a smaller 145-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a 30-kW electric motor system. This will be double the output of what is in the larger models.
So we’ve filled you in on what’s inside the Rogue hybrid and what is under the hood. Now, let’s take a look at how the 2016 Nissan Rogue hybrid will separate itself from its competitors. The EPA fuel economy rating for the 2016 Rogue Hybrid will be 26 city and 33 highway in front wheel drive form. This will be about a 20% increase in fuel economy over the 2015 version.
Nissan believes it can raise the United States Rogue sales to a 300,000 annual sales level. Automotive News also reported earlier this summer that while the Rogue Select, a version of the previous-generation Rogue, will be dropped from the lineup, the U.S. market will get a version of the European-market Qashqai—a somewhat smaller five-seater that’s closely related but about 10 inches shorter, with a two-inch-shorter wheelbase.
